Resilient, Indigenous, Mother

Monica K. is a Mestiza medicine woman in the tradition of Curanderismo. She is an advocate for regaining the use of ritual in the healing process. Influenced by her studies with Indigenous elders in U.S., Canada, Southern Africa, Mexico, India, and S. America, she incorporates somatic mindfulness practice, ceremony, and ancient rites of passage into her work on every level. For twenty years she has practiced and taught herbalism, yoga, and meditation primarily with women and children.
Monica began her apprenticeship with a Naturopathic Doctor and an Amazonian shaman in 1999. Since then, she took time off to be a mother, and then returned to work with a specialization in her ancestral lineage of Curanderismo (Latino Healing) and Herbalism. This has given her the opportunity to teach through the University of Arizona Integrative Medicine Dept., and Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism. She has facilitated groups at clinics, resorts, addiction facilities, and festivals including Omega Institute, Tao Inspired Living, Amansala Resort, Holistika Tulum, Sister Winds Festival, and Oregon Eclipse Festival, among others. After co-founding two holistic health centers in the Yucatan peninsula, she returned as a single mother to the U.S. to pursue licensure in Psychology at Naropa University. Monica inspires people to narrate a life story of resilience, and that we are all in some way living out a Hero’s Journey!
I hope this is sufficient, and look forward to getting started!
