Why Are Morning Routines Helpful For A Productive Life?

A morning routine is like a jump start to your day. Creating a consistent pattern, something you don’t have to think about in practice ensures your day is on the right track. Something as small as starting with a shower, a cup of tea, and a ten-minute brain dump every day can help you attain the level of high quality of output and results you are looking for. Many successful people find having a morning routine to be their secret to success and swear by it. But why are morning routines so helpful?

Circadian Rhythms

We all have an internal clock called Circadian Rhythm. Our bodies are amazing! This clock tells your body when to do everything from releasing digestive enzymes to when it is time to rest and sleep. If you sleep at night and start your day early, your body sets its natural clock in alignment with the natural light cycles. I know not everyone can wake early in the morning and sleep at night for many different reasons. If you work at night or just are a night owl naturally, apply these principles to the time you wake. No matter the time, getting the proper amount of sleep and feeling refreshed after will give you a sense of being present and active and can even help with emotional stability!

Your Energy Is High

When you wake up from a good night’s sleep, your body has been reset and is ready to get things done. Our brains have hit the refresh button, which is why a routine is so important. We’re primed to have a high amount of energy, and we just have to tap into it. Creating habits that you do during this time will increase your level of productivity. We can get things done early and with little effort. Crossing off your morning list sets the pace for the rest of your day.

You Get to Choose

We have all been there, hitting the snooze button to get the most sleep we can before we have to crawl out of bed and handle business. Who can have a workout routine when you wake up five minutes before you have to log in to “the office”? If you are still heading to the office, rush-hour isn’t the place for a peaceful breakfast. Your morning routine can save you from morning havoc! You get to choose what your practice is. You can head out early for the day and have some workout sessions outdoors, or snuggle with a book and a cup of coffee, or even prep dinner.

Start with Three

Here is a list of things that you choose to do every day when you get out of bed; of course, it’s not an exhaustive list. What will work best for you is the goal. Pick three things to start. They may be the only three you ever choose, or you may decide to substitute or add more as your routine becomes second nature to you.

  • Make your bed
  • Make a hot cup of something yummy
  • Drink 16 oz of water
  • Make breakfast, and eat it at a table
  • Shower
  • Stretch
  • Go for a walk
  • Do a YouTube workout
  • Meditate
  • Read
  • Journal
  • Plan your day
  • Start a load of laundry

Morning routines are just the start. It may sound backward, but the more you can routinize your life, the more freedom you will have for spontaneity!

Wishing you The Gift of routine,

Tiffany
